Tomorrow I'm heading out to the inaugural symposium of the British Association of Nineteenth-Century Americanists - BrANCA for short - at the University of Sussex. I think that the creation of this organisation has been one of the more exciting academic developments of the past year or so, so I was even more thrilled to be asked to chair one of the panels.
